Was Mater Dei's run through the extremely tough Air Strike 7-on-7 Passing Tournament at Dana Hills High School a sign of things to come in Southern California in 2013?
The 2012 CIF PAC-5 runner-ups beat Chaminade 14-13 in the finals of the day-long event that featured some of the top teams throughout the High School Football America/SoCal listening area.
According to Dan Albano of OCVarsity.com, the Monarchs, who last won the Air Strike in 2010 where perfect on the day.
Mater Dei was a perfect 7-0 on the day. Chaminade's only two losses were to the Monarchs. In the semifinals: Mater Dei beat Hart, while Chaminade beat Santa Margarita.
Also participating in the tourney were: Alemany, Dana Hills,
Edison, Huntington Beach, Long Beach Poly, Mission Hills, Narbonne, Oaks
Christian, St. Bonaventure, San Juan Hills, Valencia and Upland.
